  1. They're called flap track fairing or Kucheman carrots, found under the wings of most commercial aircrafts, it houses movement mechanisms for the flaps and in some aircraft like the A380 it houses the RAT(Ram Air Turbine)

  2. All large civil aircraft have the fairings. In the trade are called boat fairings or canoes and provide aerodynamic streamlining for the flap beams. Flap beams are basically rails on the underside that allow the flaps to extend out and down when deployed.

  3. It could be any thing or just an aerodinamic cover.

You have few answers all do make sence but some of them have extra fuel tanks, so without picture it is hard to answer your Q? correctly.

But you now do have some idea about it.

  4. they are engines, without those, it could not fly

  5. Those appear to be fairings to cover up the wing flap hydraulic actuators.  Other air craft hide the mechanical inside the wings, makes service harder.  I see greater aerodynamic drag however.

  6. They are flap track fairings. There are four per wing. Each flap set rides down a pair of tracks which are hidden beneath these fairings. They are often referred to as 'canoes' because their shape resembles that of a canoe when they are removed from the aircraft.

  7. They are fairings to cover up the track and carriage of the s***w type actuation mechanism . I

  8. The structure around the engine is called the nacelle and the structure that joins the nacelle to the wing is called the pylon.  The nacelle is lined with thermal blankets to shield it from the heat of the engine.
