"A las 6:00 yo quiero ver las noticias en caso de que algo importante ___ pasado en el mundo."

How do I know which form to use here? I originally put down "ha" but that was incorrect. Knowing why is more important that just having the right answer...

Thanks!

  1. Its halla not hacer.

  2. no

  3. hace

  4. Are you sure you're supposed to use Hacer? I'm pretty sure you're supposed to use the verb Haber.

... algo importante HAYA pasado en el mundo.

    This is called Present subjunctive.

ex.  yo haya, que tú hayas, que usted/el/ella haya, que nosotros/as hayamos, que vosotros/as hayais, que ustedes/ellos/ellas hayan.

It's stupid how all these people have degrees and teach and have no idea what they're talking about.

  5. Hace!

  6. i took spanish for 3 yrs in hs .. only learned alpha bet and colors

  7. here´s my answer in english and in spanish.

(aqui esta mi respuesta en ingles y español)

in that sentence the correct conjugation of the verb would be HAYA

(en esa oracion la correcta conjugacion del verbo seria HAYA)

    so the sentence would be:

"A las 6:00 yo quiero ver las noticias en caso de que algo importante HAYA pasado en el mundo."

(at 6:00 i want to watch the news in case that something important has happend in the world)

OHH and  its not the verb "Hacer" i agree with the argentine i think its "Haber"

    Bye (Adios)

  8. hace, preterite sense

  9. haiga,

  10. The correct answer is "ha".  This is not a form of the verb hacer.  It is the present perfect form of tener.   You're saying that you want to watch the news if something HAS happened in the world, which would  be the present perfect form of the verb have.

Three years as a Spanish teacher, trust me.

  11. haya pasado

  12. I believe the answer is haga.

You will need to use the present subjunctive because the sentence uses the phrase "en caso de que" this and about 30 others are good indicators of when to use the subjunctive tense. However there is also the possibility of needing to use the imperfect subjunctive if the sentence is referring to something in the past.

The subjunctive conjugations in the present are

    yo- haga

    tu-hagas

    el/ella/ud.- haga

    nosotros- hagamos

    ellos/ellas/uds- hagan

    Hope this helps :)

  13. it's just hace. usually using yo the conjucation is "o" but i think here it's just hace.

  14. hecho

    Past tense.

"That something important has happened in the world."

On the news, the events reported have already happened.  Therefore the news are events that happened in the recent  past.  You need past tense.  Hecho pasado.
