Question:

Connect to server behind firewall?

Is there a way to allow outside connections to a web server that's running behind a school's firewall? I can't open ports on the firewall because well it's the schools so I wondered if there's a way that outside users can connect to the server.

  1. If the schools network is setup right, there will be no way "around" the firewall, all inbound traffic should be inspected by the firewall first.  So no, there is no way unless you have access to the firewall.

  2. You already have port 80 open to the public internet.  What other port(s) do you want open?  Why?  Check with your school district IT department and get their assistance.  Any changes to Firewalls should be done through them anyway.
