Connecticut Car tax.?

I received a letter for a Connecticut town in lived in yesterday 8/11/08 saying that I owe a car tax from 1994 and 1995. The bill is for $1500. Is there a statue of limitation of them to collect on the bill.

  1. Chances are you'll have to pay it.

    The CT state law says a municipality has up to 15 years to collect, and does not need to prove that a bill was received by the taxpayer.

    Add to that that the state has hired a collection agency to go after the estimate $6 million outstanding, and it's a no win situation.
