The connection works fine and we can see that the set top box is working in Component Mode, but the TV screen is split into 7 columns. Cant seem to correct the view on the Tv screen. Was able to guess which button on screen menu was for auto scan, and was able to scan channels, but still didnt resolve 7 columns issue. Could it be that the TV is too old its an LG Flatron model RT28FZ10RX bought in 2002?

  1. Hmm I am having the same problem with the same TV which is a widescreen version a couple of years old. I have used a SD box on it and it worked fine though AV and colour cables. Though the  HD set top box is splitting the screen vertically into 7 or 8 fuzzy screens. Going through AV cables works fine but using the colour cables is causing the problem. The same set top box works fine on my rear projection Celestial TV however.

If you happen to work out whats going on and fix it, post it up.

So if you're using colour cables and getting the problem, try the AV cables(yellow-video, white/red - left/right audio) or better use s-video.
