Connecting Laptop to wireless connection?

I have just been given a Maxdata 1000T laptop, and would now like to connect it using my wireless router (Netgear) I've tried to go into my NEtwork connections and there is no icon for wireless like it says there should be on the help and answers page, so not sure what to do really, can anyone help please???

  1. are you using a wire or a card or a built-n recievier?

    You have to be a lil specific in the question in order to generate the right answer.


  2. Firstly, ensure that the new laptop has a wireless receiver.  Using the Wireless utility that you have, scan for new networks, you'll be given a listing of what's in your area.  Pick one and click on connect.

    If you have no wireless hardware (in laptop) - you won't be able to do any of the above.

  3. Sounds like you need to buy a wireless computer card .I use a Belkin one .

  4. I think you might need to go on to the manufactures website and download the wireless driver or something like that. I had to do the same thing on my laptop.

  5. I only have a laptop which is wireless but when I connected to my Internet provider I had to first connect the laptop with the Ethernet wires in then run the disc again to do it wireless.  I hope this helps I not very good at the technical things .

  6. you should get a linksys wireless adapter. you can conna=ect with any network and it is only 30$

  7. you should check out this site where you can get a sony vaio laptop for free

  8. all you have to do is buy a netgear adapter or usb that you plug into your laptop and it picks up the connection of your router.

    (i have netgear myself)
