Ok, so i went out and bought the Logitech X-540, i want to hook them up to my ps3 with real surrond sound not matrix mode. The problem is they use 3 3.35mm cables (front l/r, Right l/r and Center/Sub) is there any 3 3.5mm to Toslink digital audio converter?

  1. I have not heard of one but they may exist. It's kind of like putting a Corvette engine in a Prius. BTW the plugs should be front l/r, surround l/r, and center/sub. This is standard for computers but little else. Ipods use the same size plugs but only for left and right since they don't support 5.1. I have heard of a converter to hook coax to fiber optic at Radio Shack but not fiber optic to analog. There may be a cable to take analog sound off your PS3 directly rather than convert it but I'm not sure. Sorry I can't be more help. Anyone I know who has a PS3 hooks them up to a home theater which can take the Toslink directly.

  2. You are trying to put a square peg into a round hole here.  Your speakers do not have all the right ingredients to achieve what you want.  The vital step here is Digital to Analog conversion.  You may be able to get a sound card that can accept an outboard digital device(for the optical from the game console), and then have the appropriate 6 channel outputs to your speakers.  You would then use the computer for volume control and channel level adjustments.
