Connecting TV to DVD player?

My dad sent me a Sony KDL-46S3000 LCD TV and a Sony DVX-HDX265 DVD Home thearter system for my birthday yesterday and was wondering if I need the HDMI thing connected. I don't understand the stupid book. It didn't come with one.Do I need to buy one?

  1. If you want to have the best possible picture, then you will have to connect the DVD player to the TV using the HDMI (or DVI) interface.  You should be able to connect the DVD player to the TV with another connection, but the picture quality will probably be not as good as it would with the HDMI (or DVI) cable.


  2. If you don't understand a thing, then run a HDMI cable from the Sony to your TV. Connect your speakers to your Sony and put them as per the diagram in the manual. Choose input as HDMI on your TV and enjoy your DVD's.

    Yes, you have to buy a HDMI cable.

  3. Wow. That's one generous Dad you got there. The T.V. alone is worth about  $1600.

    When I was 19 my dad bought me a pint of lager when I saw him in the pub!

    Like you, I always find the instruction booklets stupid and full of useless information. Funny that!

    Anyway, when you buy your HDMI cable it's apparantly best to get the gold plated type as the perform better.
