Connecting Television to Computer. I bought a VGA to RBG cord to connect my Panasonic TC-37LZ85

I bought a VGA to RBG cord to connect my Panasonic TC-37LZ85 flat screen 37 inch 1080p to my Thinkpad T60 computer. I've gone through the display and tried connecting it so that i can display what is on my computer screen onto the television, but I cannot get it to show up. I'm not sure what display might be keeping it from showing up on the television. Any help is greatly appreciated!
