  1. Isnt there a installation guide that came with it? It also might not be needed depending on what you are trying to do. It needs to connect to a router thru the wireless or ethernet cable to acess the internet. Hit me up on YIM so I can better understand this as your description isnt clear.

  2. You are a bit vague in what you want to do.  You just want to network your laptop and your desktop, so you can share files between them?  Hit a computer shop and buy a crossover cable, and connect the two network ports (they look like big phone jacks).  Then set your IP settings to put them in the same range.

New laptops do not come with the necessary cables to hook them up to other computers.

If you had a wireless router, you could just connect your new laptop to it wirelessly.  Your IP addresses would be set automatically.  hen of course, you need to enable file and printer sharing on both computers, and actually set a folder on each to be shared.

Oh... you are looking to get both computers on the same internet connection?  You need a router for that.  Plug the router into your modem, plug the desktop into the router, connect the laptop wirelessly to the router, and you are good to go.

You want to do these things without spending any money?  Unless you get a friend to give you the stuff you need for free, you can't.

You are expecting this to be easy?  It isn't.
