Connecting a behringer djx700 mixer to a panasonic...

Hi, i have lost a lot of sound quality when connecting a behringer djx700 mixer to a panasonic amp, while playing through a turntable. The connection is made from the master sockets on the mixer to the AUX connection on the amp. Is a loss of sound quality normal or have i got my connections wrong. Thanks.
