what would happen if i connect a low gauge wire to an amplifier the amp is around 200 watts rms

  1. Worst case scenario, you'll start your car on fire.


  2. 200 watt rms, probably 400 watt max, use 8gage wire and you'll be fine. just get an amp kit that is rated for 400 watts and it will come with the appropriate gage wire and fuse size

  3. Nothing other than a waste of thicker, beefier more expensive wire.

    I run 400rms with 8 gauge(what bestbuy recommended) and its way lots of wire. I could run 12 gauge with no problems and i have run 12g off 400rms many times.

  4. 8 AWG is fine for 200 watts.

    do not, i repeat, do not, use any wires when connecting amplifiers! they cause fire!
