Connecting dvd recorder to tv with built in freeview?

I have an LG tv with built in freeview and want to connect up my Sony DVD recorder any help will be appreciated

  1. Check that the tv will output its picture and sound on a SCART socket. If it does then just connect that socket to the SCART input of your DVD recorder.

    If the tv doesn't provide an output through it's SCART then see if it has  phono sockets with video and audio output. You can then use a SCART-Phono adaptor lead to do the connection. Make sure that the lead is wired for INPUT via the SCART. If you have the wrong one it will be 'going the wrong  way' and won't work for you.

    Some of the better ones have a switch on the SCART plug so that you can use it in either direction.

    Remember that you will only be able to record the programme that you are watching. If you want to record different programmes then you'll need to connect a Freeview box to your DVD recorder's input.


  2. dont you just connect them together with the scart lead? thats what i did, dvd player should then work on any channel
