Question:

Connecting flight, do you check your baggage only once?

I'm flying to Chicago, via London in November. Both my flights are American Airlines (different planes obviously) Does that mean that when I check my baggage at Glasgow airport where I'm leaving from, that's it? or do I have to check it again in London? thanks x

  1. once they are checked, your set for the whole way! you only need to check them once!

  2. yes, you check your baggage only once ...

just make sure that when you check in at Glasgow, your bags will have tags to Chicago ... you can check this with your claim stub attached to your ticket ...

when you arrive London and change plane, they usually just give you a transit card ... and you don't have to claim your baggage and check them again ...

when on connecting flights, ensure you travel lightly (not too much handcarry) ... London has a big airport and transferring from one flight to another may be some distance ...

    have a nice trip ...

  3. You check your luggage once from origin to final destination.

  4. If it's different planes the only thing you have to worry about is any carry on luggage that you have. American Airlines will transfer any checked bags to the connecting flight. Have a safe and fun trip  =)

  5. Yes, you check your luggage only once.  HOWEVER, if you have a connecting flight in the U.S. (say, fly to Boston and then catch another flight to Chicago - sounds like you don't but I'm not sure) you do have to collect your baggage at the point of entry to the country, personally take it through customs, and drop it off again.
