Can this be done? I've a sub (Home cinema) that i want to test out in the car as i don't use it at home really, it has only 2 outputs for the speaker cables & i have an amp in the car powering 2 front components. If so, where do i connect the sub to? It's a 2way amp.

Thanks in advance.

  1. you would need to convert the power input from 240 to 12v, this can be done easily enough. but to be honest i cant be bothered to go through all the wiring system because it really is more hassle to do than its worth too be honest. a sub thats designed for a home cinema is designed for that purpose. for the hassle and cost to do it you could buy a proper decent sub designed for a car. what bass a sub in your home creates will do very little in your car if you want decent sound.

  2. Home speakers are 8 ohm so they are not meant for automotive usage.

They would make sound but it would be unnefficient since you would be wasting power from your amp.

  3. And where do you suppose the mains voltage is going to come from?

  4. im pretty sure u need a power inverter that converts the 12v DC from your car battery to 120v AC that the home sub requires.  then u plug the sub into that for its power.  i cant really give u an answer as far as actually wiring to the radio to get the signal tho
