Connecting my Xbox 360,Wii,PS3 to TV/Receiver?

I am setting up a surround sound system and im trying to figure out how to Connect my Xbox 360,Wii,PS3 to my TV or reciever..I was talking to my friend and he said that his 360 is hooked up to his tv and there is a seperate wire that goes from the reciever to the TV....Will this work with all 3 systems...thanks soo much for your time to answer this wuestions...this is a big help for me!!!thanks^_^

  1. They actually make devices that will allow you to connect all three consoles and then simply press a button to switch the display to that console.


  2. yeah you can have cable and a console hooked up, but if you want to change consoles, you have to switch out wires.. if you're using composite (yellow) you can get a switch box for pretty cheap... if you're using component cables it's going to get pricey.. and if you're using hdmi cables, then you have to manually switch it.. and you have to switch it for cable too...

    he's using his hdmi in for his cable and his component in for his game system..

    you can probably do it through your receiver if you just want to use the composite yellow cable and regular sound, but why would you want to do that if you've got those systems and 5.1 sound?
