I have a Sony Bravia TV, a DAVHDX501 surround sound system and a Dish Network subscription and box. I have a cable going from my Xbox to the surround sound box with 6 cables red white yellow and red green blue. There are two rows on the box. But also have a red white and yellow satellite box. 1. Red and white are your audio inputs/outputs. The yellow (composite cable) is for video input/output.

The red green and blue cable you're describing is your video component cable (or YPbPr). This is a higher grade of digital video conduit than the yellow cable (basically the yellow combines the red, blue, and green hence the name composite while the component cable breaks them up giving higher definition). You will still need audio along with this cable, so you will often have the red and white cables accompanying component video cables.

You only need to hook up the component video cables and the audio cables.
