Question:

Connecting my computer up to my TV?

I have a Samsung 42" Plasma TV that I am trying to hook up to my old desktop that operates on Windows XP with a VGA to RGB cable (VGA on the comp end of course and RGB on the TV end). Every time I plug it in I get "Not Supported Mode" on the TV.

I've tried every resolution possible (plugging into my old monitor, unplugging and plugging back into the TV only to see not supported mode, and then all over again) but nothing has worked. I used my laptop yesterday and it wouldn't work with VGA to RGB, but as soon as I plugged in s-video it worked great. My desktop doesn't have an s-video connection though. I've been working at this off and on for hours now and could REALLY use some help. Could somebody please tell me how to fix this?

Thank you:)

  1. Why you try to get you a TV tuner card, that way you have a full theatre, where you can control the tv content and your PC, and viceversa, and they have all types of conectors out and in, they also have external, like USBs, go to this site and check hauppague.com

  2. it won't work no matter what you do. you need a graphics card that has a tv out feature. you said it's an old computer, but it runs xp, i'm pretty sure it can support the graphics card.
