Hello and thanks for reading my post, any help is appreciated.

I have two passive subwoofers, 1 Onkyo 2-channel amplifier, and 1 Onkyp AV receiver. Like most other receivers it is the subwoofer jack is to powered amps. How do i hook this up to the 2-channel amp? do i need to puchase a Y split audio cable to connect the subout to the amp audio in? I have tried using the preouts (surround) from the AV Receiver to the 2-channel amp but i'm not hearing anything. All my other speakers are working and is hooked up through regular speaker wires.

  1. Yes,  I think you answered your own question.  You get a y-splitter and hook up the sub output to the left and right inputs of the amplifier.  THen hook up your passive subs to the left and right speaker outputs of the amplifier.  THen set up the crossover using your receiver subwoofer setup in the setup menu.
