Connecting pc to tv via HDMI cable. Any better or benefit than just a normal pc cable?

at the moment my laptop is just connected to the tv witha vga cable. my latop has an HDMI port and i wanna know if i connect it to my hd tv will it be better? and would the AUDIO also play through the tv then?

You need a double ended jack lead for the audio. pc audio out and plug it into audio in, on tv.

only if you were watching high def content like bluray HD DVD, up scaled dvd. Audio would carry through hdmi cable
