Connecting plasma tv, hdd recorder and cinema system

Question

I have just bought a Panasonic plasma hd ready tv, a Panasonic hdd recorder and a Panasonic home cinema system and am trying to connect everything together. I bought everything Panasonic to use the Viera link. I'm using HDMI cables but I'm unsure whether I need scart cables too between the hdd recorder and the tv. Does the Viera link need scart? Do I need scart to pause live tv? I think that I need some connection between the cinema system and the tv to play normal tv sound through the suround speakers. Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

My Panny Plasma  and  old disc recorder I got free with it  did not want to communicate with each other from day one

I used RGB  to Toppy hard drive    and scarts on  Bose surround  and Scart on  dvd rec
