Connecting ps3 to surround sound HELP!!!!

Question

how do i connect the ps3 to the lg LH-T550TB dvd surround sound? i have plugged in my ps3 through HDMI to my tv (42PC1DA) but how do i get surround sound. when the ps3 is plugged in to the tv through hdmi, i just get the noise from the tv speakers but how do i get it from the surround sound, still with the hdmi plugged in? all the surround sound speakers are around the room and all go separately to the lg surround sound dvd receiver.

If you havent already done it,you need to run your tv through your surround sound and everything run through your tv will run through your surround. I have my games,dvds,pc and digital cable all run through my surround sound.Just take your audio out of your tv and run it through you audio in of your surround sound reciever.

Hi mate

sorry dude but you cant do it.  There is no digital audio "in" on your surround either coax or optical.  You can get stereo by using a scart splitter, but thats what your getting through the TV already, so theres not much point.

Your going to have to upgrade the surround system, if you do, make sure you get something which has HDMI ports on it and can decode Doldby TrueHD which the blue-ray uncompressed sound format.

Sounds like you'll have to give up the HDMI. You'll need to connect the audio directly into the receiver. Check to see if your receiver can accept an optical cord. If so, you'll be able to get true 5.1 surround sound. Those cords come cheap on eBay as well. Don't waste money buying them in the store.

If it doesn't have an optical cord, then you'll left with good ole' stereo cables and you'll have to make best with Dolby Pro Logic technology to replicate a surround sound through your receiver.
