Connecting speakers to amp

Hi, my grandparents had a turntable and I've just discovered it with a vinyl collection. I want to know how to connect my Sanyo model JA 220 Amp to Pilot speakers. The speakers have a lead coming out of it with a long pin and another slightly shorter. Failing that, do I need to buy new speakers?
