I am a receptionist at a car dealership, I bring my laptop to work pretty often. There is a network (Service) that my laptop connects to automatically. Well, it says it is connected but with limited connectivity. I cannot access the internet. Any ideas?

  1. ya your connection time is up !

  2. try asking your boss whats the problem or tell ur boss to get someone to the car dealer ship to fix the problem and can other people access the internet too?

  3. We actually need more information to help you.

    What's your OS?

What's the modem and router model? (may not be necessary)

You can actually post those information and I'll be happy to help you.

  4. Could have an IP conflict,

It could be locked down via Mac address and your address is not on the list

it may not have internet capability

  5. Really it is difficult to troubleshoot the problem without knowing how the network is setup.  Talk to your network administrator to get some help.  The error you listed typically indicates that the laptop was unable to acquire a network address.  That could be because of the way the network is configured or because of a problem with the laptop.  Again it really depends on how your specific network is setup.

  6. it might be coz of, 2 reasons..

    1)  your wireless network may be secured1, and you haven't entered the right password to connect

    2) your IP administrator may have configured certain range of IP address for all pcs at office, which need to be configured Manually for each PCS  ( ie, IP address won't recieve automatically from DHCP)

    regards,
