Connecting to a printer through a workgroup. Password?

When I try to connect to a printer through my workgroup it asks for a password? Why would it do this and how can I stop it? Or what Username/password would I use? (obviously not specific, but like the local computer pw or what?)

  1. The computer with the printer you are using requires a password to connect.

    assuming you have Vista;

    Go to the Network in the start menu, Click on Network and sharing Center, the green dot for the password protected sharing is probably on, turn it off and you should be able to get through.  


  2. Is it a web printer or are you connecting to it through usb

    if web check the manufacture for the default password

    if usb check your printer sharing options
