Question:

Connection error for Sony DCR-HC35e camcorder -...

Here is the timeline:
Camcorder (through Handycam station) works fine on XP - has done since I got it. I-Link connection great.
Bought new PC - with Vista
Attempted to connect camcorder - not recognised - have some potential workaround on the Sony site.
Decided to reconnect Camcorder to XP machine - now that doesn't pick it up.
I have noticed that as soon as I connect the i-link, it states ''DV in'' on the LCD screen. I clearly need ''DV out'' although there are no menu options to arrange this switch.

I have tested three different firewire cables, 5 different ports, two different cards and all work with other known working apparatus. All I can assume is that it is (a) the camcorder or (b) the Handycam station. I read somewhere that they can be prone to breaking if you hot swap the cable - could this explain the ''DV in'' only, or would that likely render that unusable too?

I am at a loss - Sony are no help with this, and I need to see if others have any further ideas. Help is greatly appreciated!
