I have:

Sony Bravia KDL-46X3100

Sony Home Theatre Receiver HTDDW1600

Panasonic DVD Recorder DMR-EH55

Satellite Decoder/Receiver which has SCART and AV outs only

I have cables:

- Optical Digital Audio Cable (2 nos)

- Component Video Cable (2 nos)

- Scart to Component & Composite Video + Audio (1 no)

I am connecting SCART to SCART from SAT Decoder to DVD recorder (so as to record) and then from SCART out of DVD to component video of Bravia. I have a query here that component cable has 6 connectors but there are 5 inputs at TV end. Where does the 6th one goes? Also, when I connected this cable from DVD recorder to Bravia..i cannot see any picture (on HD input 1 of Bravia) but can hear audio..

What I plan to do is connect Component Video Cable from DVD to Receiver and connect Component Video Cable from Receiver to Bravia. Connect Optical audio cable from from Bravia to Rx. Please please do let me know if I am doing right?? I desperately need help.. Thanks in anticipation

  1. 1. What is the purpose of using the component cables rather than SCART, to the Bravia?

    2. What are the 6 colours on your 'component' cable ends?

    3. By HD input 1 on Bravia, do you mean HDMI input 1?

    4. Is 5.1 / 7.1 surround sound configured into your wiring arrangements?

    5. What are you trying to achieve as an end result?

Sorry to ask so many questions, but there are too many parameters just to give a simple answer to your query.
