and if he doesnt have a say in it...how can i try and prove to my mom that its better for me to be in online school rather than regular school..cause at this point i'd rather jump off a bridge then return to my highschool.

  1. First off you should not be afraid to talk to your parents and tell them why you do not want to go to public school. They love you, trust me. I am not sure what state you live in, but I have my children enrolled in a great online home-school in Ohio called OHDELA. You should tell your parents how you fell and ask them to just look into it and give it a try. They offer online information sessions three days a week. Or you can give them a call at 1.800.493.8680 also 1.800.4MY.DELA

Worst case give them your contact information and they will send your parents information. But to be more direct to your question the answer is no they can not make you stay there, it is there job to try and keep you in their school as the schools are funded based on the number of kids enrolled there each year. Online public charter schools are the same they are funded by the state based on the number of students enrolled each year.

  2. Your mom and vice principal are trying to look out for you but may not have all the facts.  I'm not sure what state you are in, but Connections Academy continually demonstrates that it has an outstanding record of making sure students receive an excellent education that either meets or exceeds what students in a traditional school setting may be getting.

For example, Oregon Connections Academy earned the highest possible rating from the Oregon Department of Education. The results of the state testing showed that ORCA's students had exceptional test scores, even surpassing the state average and other statewide virtual schools. http://bit.ly/6gjgcq

No matter what state you are in, the program is accredited by AdvancED. It will also meet all of the state requirements that assure your diploma will be recognized no matter what you want to do after you graduate.
Here's a partial list of some of the colleges students in last years graduating class attended.  http://bit.ly/QQM3t My son graduated from this school last year...so I know first hand!  He described it like sitting in the front of the classroom all the time.  While he was attending he also went to a local college so he was able to graduate high school and head right into the job of his dreams.

If you are looking at attending the Connections Academy private school (http://www.NationalConnectionsAcademy.com) they even offer the opportunity to earn both a high school diploma and an Associates Degree at the same time in their upper school program.

Be patient with the adults in your life, they are just trying to make sure they do what's right for you.  But in the meantime gather all your facts and present them to them with respect.  In turn, they will see your maturity and work with you to get what you need.

  3. I would like to introduce another option. OHDELA, The Ohio Distance and Electronic Learning Academy. We have been with them for a number of years and they are great. Their teachers are amazing and they provide everything you need and then some. They give you a loaner computer, printer/scanner/fax machine, and provide reimbursement for internet even. They offer a myChoice account which allow you to supplement your education however you choose whether thru field trips, lessons like dance or art, karate, books, etc. They also are one of the only online schools that have an active PTO, National Honor Society and Clubs such as ski club. You can learn more about them by visiting them online at http://www.ohdela.com where they offer an online information session three days a week or you can call them and get more information at 1.800.493.8680
