Connections expecting goods from Reve De Sivola
Connections of Reve De Sivola are hoping for more good results, after the 7-year-old took an amazing 14-length triumph in the Grade 1, Long Walk Hurdle at Royal Ascot just a few days ago.
After staying out of action for nearly 12 months, the Nick Williams-trained returned to action at Newbury at the start of this month, when he finished second to Big Buck's, who was recently sidelined due to fitness issues.
Reve De Sivola’s camp is expecting him to become the big thing, after the exit of Big Buck's. After securing the second place in the Grade 2, Sportingbet Long Distance Hurdle, the Paul Duffy Diamond Partnership-owned raised his game to register a fascinating
victory last time out.
Ascot’s meeting was not an easy task. But in the hands of Richard Johnson, the 9-2 chance performed magnificently. He mostly jumped well, and tracked the clear leader until halfway. The dashing runner pumped up his speed significantly to lead well before
the wire.
After getting his head in front, the son of Assessor extended his advantage, and eventually defeated the favourite, Smad Place, by a huge margin. The trainer is quite pleased with his progress following a long layoff, and hoped for more good stuff in the
future.
"We were hopeful, but you never know until the day when a horse comes back from a long period off through injury. We rode him differently because we wanted to make sure it was a staying race. The horses behind him weren't as guaranteed to stay as Reve, we
thought, and that's why Nick's instructions to Richard Johnson were to be there or thereabouts," said Paul Duffy, who heads the Diamond Partnership syndicate.
He continued: "He had a hose down after the race to make sure his joints were fine. We like to think we've got the objective of the World Hurdle.”
The 7-year-old has registered five wins so far. He opened his account in October 2009, when taking the top prize in the Grade 2, Totepool Persian War Novices' Hurdle. He won another race in 2009, before recording a couple of triumphs the following year.
