Connections of race-horse Red Jazz insecure of Canford Cliffs – Horse Racing Update
The champion and talented race-horse Red Jazz is all ready to make his first public appearance of the racing season in Britain as he will be going on to contend the JLT Lockinge Stakes that will be taking place on Saturday, May 14 at the Newbury race-course.
Meanwhile, the connections of race-horse have confessed that it is “a big ask” to expect that Red Jazz will be able to hold off the champion race-horse Canford Cliffs in the aforementioned race.
In the Group 2 Godolphin Mile race that took place at Meydan in the month of March, Red Jazz was able to bag the third spot. Moreover, he was only beaten by a thin margin of only half a length when he contended the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes amongst some
of the best race-horses of the country back in September at the ever famous Ascot race-course.
As for the sponsors, Lockinge is backing Red Jazz for this race at odds of 16-1. Other sponsors include Coral, who is quoting Red Jazz as an 11-1 favourite. On the other hand, the most prominent of the contenders of this race and the biggest competition
for Red Jazz, the odds on favourite Canford Cliffs has not been quoted bigger that 10-1 with any sponsors.
Red Jazz trains under the care of the dedicated trainer Barry Hills. Talking to the correspondents, he was reported as saying that the connections of the race-horse have positive hopes from him as he comes back on the course for his first British start,
especially after he gave a satisfactory performance at Meydan in March.
However, the trainer said, it will indeed be a very tough competition and holding off the race-horse Canford Cliffs will not be easy for Red Jazz.
Canford Cliffs is the trainee of Richard Hannon. He has to his credit list the winning of three Group 1 races that were run over a distance of a mile as he concluded his 2010 racing season. The Lockinge race that will be run on Saturday is also of the same
distance of 1 mile.
