Connex city loop?

Question

Can I catch a train directly from flinders street station to parliament, or do I need to go all the way around the city loop in the other direction? In other words, are parliament and flinders street station actually joined?

Depends on the time of day, the loop changes direction about halfway through the day, in the afternoon you can go from Flinders to Parliament on any of the lines that go to the western suburbs.
