Connor Black grabs Men’s 100m butterfly gold – Speedo Junior National Championships
Connor Black of Cats Aquatic Team clinched gold medal of the Men’s 100m butterfly on day three of the 2012 Speedo Junior National Championships at Indiana University Natatorium in Indianapolis on Wednesday, August 15.
Black smothered efforts of his opponents who were eyeing the title of the discipline. He faced no difficulty in maintaining his position in the playoff and reached the podium for gold medal.
With his immaculate efforts, Black remained full body length ahead of his strongest opponent and touched the wall with the timing of 53.16 seconds for gold medal.
The gold medallist was followed by Justin Lynch of Terrapins Swim Team, who remained 0.75 seconds slower and occupied second position of the discipline by submitting an effort of 53.91 seconds.
Lynch was chased by Aaron Whitaker of Duneland Swim Club, who was 0.17 seconds slower and proved his mettle for bronze medal of the event by clocking a time of 54.08 seconds.
The 17-year-old Whitaker was trailed by Matthew Josa of SwimMAC Carolina, who was just 0.05 seconds slower from overpowering the bronze medallist and clocked a timing of 54.13 seconds for fourth position.
Fifth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Michael Domagala of Asphalt Green Unified Aquatics, who suffered a loss of 0.31 seconds from his former finisher and posted a time of 54.44 seconds.
Subsequently, Domagala was traced by Santo Condorelli of Bolles School Sharks, who stayed exactly half a second behind and transpired on the finishing blockade as sixth position holder with the timing of 54.94 seconds.
Condorelli was chased by Andrew Seliskar of CUBU-PV, who remained 0.06 seconds slower from upsetting his former finisher and made his way to the finishing end as seventh fastest swimmer with an effort of 55.00 seconds.
Eighth fastest qualification spot of the discipline was obtained by Clark Smith of Denver Swim Academy, who failed to upset any of his opponents and ended eighth in the discipline by producing a time of 55.71 seconds.
Black was contented with his undisputed effort in the butterfly discipline and expressed happiness after receiving gold medal of the event.
