Connor Maher improves Men’s 200m IM record: 2011 YMCA Long Course Nationals - Atlanta, Georgia
Connor Maher of Cheshire-CT improved the national mark of Men’s 200m Individual Medley (IM) meet on day two of the 2011 Young Men’s Christian Association in Atlanta, Georgia.
Maher of Cheshire-CT qualified as the second fastest swimmer into the finals, as he stayed behind David Ingraham, who reached the finals as the fastest swimmer. Maher set the new national mark of 2 minutes and 05.13 seconds in scintillating fashion, whereas,
the previous mark was made by Scott Marino of FanwoodScotch-NJ, who won the gold in same event in a time of 2 minutes and 05.19 seconds, in 2008.
He was followed by Ingraham of Middle Tyger-SC, who stayed only 1.14 seconds behind the gold medallist and claimed the silver medal in a time of 2 minutes and 06.27 seconds. The podium was completed with the presence of Leo Lim of Wyckoff-NJ, who posted
a third fastest time of 2 minutes and 07.76 seconds.
Lim was followed by David Morgan of Suncoast-FL, who claimed the fourth fastest spot of the swim, by producing a time of 2 minutes and 07.94 seconds. Stephen Raynes of Somerset Hills-NJ was the fifth position holder of the event, as he concluded his race
in a time of 2 minutes and 08.19 seconds. Jared Kauffman of Middle Tyger-SC was the sixth finisher of the meet, by posting a time of 2 minutes and 08.85 seconds.
Alex Keller of Fayette-IL stayed 0.41 seconds behind his forgoing swimmer and ensured the seventh best finish of the four-lap swim in a time of 2 minutes and 09.26 seconds.
Lucas Bureau of Laurel Highlands transpired as the eighth best finisher, as he reported in a time of 2 minutes and 10.05 seconds. He was followed by Colton Spark of Middle Tyger-SC and Christopher DePeitro of Lancaster-OH, who ended their swims in 2:10.65
and 2:10.82 minutes, respectively.
The session completed after the finals of all scheduled swimming events, while the podium finishers were awarded with medals and accolades for their undisputed swims in the 200m freestyle meet.
