Connor Tarver seizes Girls 100 yard backstroke gold – High School State Championships, Wyoming
Connor Tarver of JAC seized the title of Girls 100 yard backstroke at the High School State Championships in Gillette, Wyoming USA on Saturday, October 27.
Tarver stifled hopes of her opponents in the backstroke sprint as she rushed her way towards the finishing wall for gold medal.
With her impeccable efforts in the 100 yard discipline, Tarver remained remarkably ahead of her competitors and proved her mettle for the title. Her alluring efforts remained more than seven seconds ahead of her strongest contender as she hit the wall with a wonderful effort of 58.74 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Haley Crawford of COD, who stayed considerably slower and surfaced on the wall for gold medal with a timing of 1 minute and 05.11 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Taylor Lund of RAW, who was 0.85 seconds away from his foregoing finisher and posted a time of 1 minute and 05.96 seconds for bronze medal.
The third position holder was followed by Lateesha Hiser of DOU, who was only 0.01 seconds slower and clocked an effort of 1 minute and 05.96 seconds for fourth position.
Similarly, Caley Stafford of BUF clinched gold medal of the 100 yard breaststroke. Stafford showed no leniency to his opponents and cruised his way towards the finishing end for gold medal with a timing of 1 minute and 11.04 seconds.
The champion was chased by Gwynaedd Howdyshell of LAN, who was 0.15 seconds apart and transpired on the finishing wall for silver medal with a timing of 1 minute and 11.19 seconds.
Third position of the event was obtained by Nicole Thiele of BUF, who was 0.60 seconds apart and surfaced on the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 11.79 seconds.
Thiele was traced by Sonya Legerski of SUB, who was 2.99 seconds behind and emerged on the wall as fourth best finisher by touching the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 14.78 seconds.
In addition, Tarver and Stafford expressed happiness over their victories on last day of the tournament and received accolades after the session.
