Conor Jackson looking to reach old form with Oakland Athletics
Though there is no security in performing consistently throughout a career, Major League Baseball player, Conor Jackson, is content with his current par-level average that he is bringing to the field.
Going into his next fixture against the Cleveland Indians, the player sported a batting average of .262. The figure would usually be near .300 but Jackson is not complaining.
After going through two rough years, one would not expected the A’s hitter to complain anyways.
"It's been a trip. It's been a rough two years", Jackson said. "You kind of take for granted your health, overall. Before 2009, I hadn't been on the DL before, never had an injury. After 2009, after I got Valley Fever, I didn't think I was going to play
baseball again. I was that ill and that sick. So I'm just happy to be in this position and happy to be here. I feel back to my old self".
The Athletics brought in Jackson from the Arizona Diamondbacks in June, 2010. The player went on to smash .300 with his old team in 2008 and he had driven in 75 runs for the National League club.
He was inactive for most games in 2009, as he was struck with Valley fever that is common in Phoenix. The star was hit badly and 2010 went away due to injury problems. He was majorly recuperating from hernia damage that year.
"A lot of people get it, and you get a cold and kind of brush it off", Jackson said. "But for me, for a mid-20s white male to get, it was about .01 percent to get it as bad as I did", Jackson said.
The hitter went on to say that it is not a joke. If one lets it go itt can be fatal at times.
In the last nine games, Jackson has hit in six, teeing in a homer against the Texas Rangers and seven RBIs. He has hit three doubles and that has got manager Bob Geren backing him up in the league.
