If I get a tattoo on the SIDE of my left finger (which isnt exposed to the sun a lot), will it get messed up? Supposedly, getting a tattoo on any areas of the hand will get messed up because the skin renews or something??? I dont think it makes sense, but... someone said it so..

Give me some advices!

  1. girl what is it with you and the finger tats? lol. jp. u shld deside what ever you want to get. dont let random ppl decide ure permant ink tats.

  2. check out this site

  3. Don't go for a finger tattoo. It fades very fast, with the amount of hand washing that goes on.

  4. It doesn't necessarily get "messed up". There are a lot of people that are skeptical to hand/finger tattoos because it's easier for the tattoo to fade because your skin regenerates there more. This doesn't mean that yours won't last, nor does it mean that it will look bad.

The reality is, ALL tattoos fade, you're supposed to go get them redone to keep the ink looking fresh and s**y.

Sun isn't good for tattoos because it isn't good for your skin in general. Not all hand tattoos turn out badly. People do it all of the time. It really just depends on how good your artist is.

  5. If it doesn't make sense to you them why don't you see a professional? An actual tattoo artist that has done them will be able to give you the answers you are seeking. You are asking for advice and are getting advice from experience, if you don't like the advice you are given because it contradicts what you want then why bother asking? Go to someone who is in the profession that has experience in the subject.

  6. Well I got a tattoo on the top of my ring finger (where a wedding ring would be) two years ago.  It is not messed up.  All tattoo's need touching up at some point because the ink fades.  But otherwise, as long as you have an artist that knows what they are doing...go for it!

  7. itll probably still fade fast bc the side of ur finger is always rubbing against the side of your other finger next to it. and u wash them a lot but if u really want it its worth it..jst get it touched up!

  8. there are reasons good tattooist refuse to do tattoos on hands, necks and faces. its because its a really SERIOUS decision and can affect getting hired for jobs and because they are areas of your body most exposed to the elements and therfor will probably fade faster than most others and end up looking like a big splodge. just be careful because you could end up regretting it, and you won't always be able to wear gloves!

  9. and dont forget u wash ur hands the most :D

  10. Hand tattoos hurt more than you expect them to, and I would think the side of your finger would be especially painful. If that doesn't scare you off (and it shouldn't!), you should also know that tattoos near joints require extra down time immediately afterward. Holding onto the steering wheel or writing/typing will be difficult for a day or two. Hand and finger tattoos also fade faster than tattoos elsewhere, due to increased sun exposure, friction, and normal day to day abuse. And as the articles below mention, some tattoo artists don't like to do finger tattoos at all, and the ones that will usually don't offer free touch-ups.

While you keep all of this in mind, make sure you have a good tattoo artist who you trust and respect, and remember that it's your body and you can do what you want with it.

  11. agrees with kiki.

finger tats are permanent and you will be able to see them all the time. it sucks for when you need to go to something important like a job interveiw and you have this hideous thing on your hand. idk. i wouldn't do it. get something that you can show off when you want to....like a lower back tat or maybe a shoulder tat....something you can hide when you need to.
