Consequences of returning to the US after having overstayed the earlier visa !!?

I understand that it takes 10 years before one could legally enter the US after having overstayed a work visa earlier. But what could happen if you also had had a credit card debt of a few thousands and also owed some credit/money to big local store chains?

Is there a way to repair this bad credit as well while not being int he US, before attempting to re-enter either on a visa or sponsorship from a permanent resident ?

  1. Well, it's normally possible to pay your bills in the US from outside of the country, so I'm not sure what the problem is if you want to pay them. As for being ineligible for 10 years, perhaps. If you were out of status in the US for over a year, then you are ineligible for 10 years. If you were out of status for 6 to 12 months, then you are ineligible for 3 years. If you were out of status for less than 6 months, you aren't technically ineligible, but you may find it very difficult to get a tourist visa.

  2. your question is kinda confusing.  Your credit score has no bearing at all to your immigration status.

  3. here is a story of someone who was denied entry because she overstayed an earlier visit.
