Consequences of using a fake id in illinois and getting caught???

What are the consequences of using a fake id in illinois and gettting caught? Like per say if one person is under 21 and using a fake id and all the rest of us are 21, would anything happen to us if they get caught using a fake id???

It all depends on the State you live in. In CA using a fake ID is only a misdemeanor, but in lots of states in the Midwest, it's considered a felony. In your state, Illinois, the possible punishments are as follows:

"The penalties for using false IDs are serious and could change your life forever.

    * Obtaining a drivers license through false affidavit is punishable by 1-3 years in prison and a maximum $25,000 fine.

    * Allowing another person to use your identification documents to apply for a drivers license or ID card is punishable by 1-3 years in prison and a maximum $25,000 fine.

While that's what it says on the State of Illinois website, I don't think that's necessarily the punishment you'd get. These deffinitions applied mainly to seriously intended deceit, like forgery or trying to mess with DMV records. The cops would probably just confiscate it, and probably fine you, but the fine could be pretty large if they wanted to give you a hard time about it.
