  1. Because they are celebrities of course and that means they are above it all and entitled to their self absorbed, self centered and self important life styles.  How dare you question their rights to tell us all what we should do!!!!!!!!!!

  2. They supposedly buy "carbon offsets" - which is a fancy way of saying they pay extra to sooth their consciences about their wasteful and extravagant lifestyles...

If they really want to "be an example" to their adoring public, they would ditch the 10,000 square foot mansions, and move into a modest home that uses FAR FEWER natural resources - be they offset by carbon credits or not...  They'd actually "minimize" their footprint instead of "offsetting" their footprint...

Then, with the money they would save by actually REDUCING their consumption-fed lifestyle, they could actually help people who are truly "in need" of assistance.

But, it's easier for them to continue living their wasteful lifestyle, and pay that surplus money they have to "offset" any carbon footprint.

  3. we do and then we pay them so that they can be famous and rich and flaunt it in front of us so we wish we were them. Messed up, huh?

  4. Technically it's the Bill of Rights in the United States Constitution.

Morally it's the fact that they have see how scared scientists, U.S. military generals, and others with insider access to the research information are, and with their access to the media they have the moral imperative to help bridge the huge gap between the knowledge held by the scientists and the poorly informed public.  Anyone who has children and cares for them would do the same (if we had the luxury of having the time to learn the facts, and the money to fly around and present them to others).

Al Gore buys carbon offsets to more than compensate for his lifestyle.  The people throwing out the claim that he's having a negative impact are paid lobbyists for the oil industry.

  5. Well they THINK they have that right just because they are loaded and they more than likely use more fuel and release more CO2 from their missions from their large houses.
