Conservation in ca. get back your full money for recycling your bottles and cans?

  1. Not when we have to pay the city to haul it off. If you take them to a recycling place yourself you only get a portion of it back because the recycling place takes their cut out of your recyclables. Also, if you are forced to have curbside recycling you have to pay for it whether you use it or not.


  2. California's deposit law allows you to get 5 cents for most bottles (24 ounces or smaller).

    The rebate will not cover the cost of the purchase.  They way the rebate works is that the bottler charges an extra 5 cents for their product.  If you recycle your bottles, you get that money back.  It is an incentive for people to recycle.

    I am in Los Angeles alot for business and I take my bottles to the grocery store at lunch.  Once a week a vendor is there that will weigh your bottles and give your a receipt.  You then take that receipt into the store to use on your next purchase.
