If your doing a problem with the equation 1/2v1^2+gh1 = 1/2v2^2+gh2 where you have an original height, final height, and mass of object and you need to find final velocity, how do you use the mass of the object to find the original velocity in order to find the final?

  1. You need to squeeze another independent equation from the problem to find both the initial and final velocities.  Depending on the kind of problem, you may or may not need the mass, but the mass does not enter into the stated equation.
