  1. Yes! Conservatism used to be about fiscal responsibility, non-interventionism, and a mild libertarian tilt regarding social issues. This has all changed in the past forty or so years. We need more real conservatives like Ron Paul and the late Barry Goldwater.

  2. In Britain it has had to change. Since Labour became the main Conservative party, the Conservatives have had to try to become Liberals. They aren't very good at it.

  3. No, it hasn't.  As we've seen, conservatives still embrace capitalism and a strong defense.  All in all, both liberalism and conservatism has not changed much at all.  Liberals still promote socialism and are big anti-capitalists.  What has changed is the party structures.  You would not see a Truman or JFK leading the Dem party today.  It has veered far left.  The US is still leaning conservative yet the Iraq war has brought some Republicans to the middle in hopes to win over the undecided voters.  One online journal opinion is not a blueprint for the country just as the most recent poll does not decide a president.  Most people still hold their core beliefs regardless of any change in society.

  4. No, conservatism DOESN'T CHANGE AT ALL! That's the whole point, to CONSERVE what had previously been proven effective. What has changed is the people, politicians, lawyers, activists, judges, lobbyist, special interest groups and everyone else who PRETENDS to represent the conservative movement, or conservatism in general. These people have hijacked what used to be a party of strong moral fiber, fiscal conservancy, and international isolationism and turned it into a freak show parade of convicted s*x offenders, closet homosexuals who profess to be homophobic, wild and reckless spending of money we don't have now (as well as future money we also won't have), and insanely ideological nation-building in parts of the world we simply do not belong.

Congratulations republican revolution, this is your love-child...hope this helps...

  5. Yes it has. I relate myself more towards Goldwater Conservatism - before conservative was equated with religious right. He was more in line with today's Libertarians than today's Republicans.
