  1. -Con: Taxes should be low and evenly divided. High taxes on the rich lower the incentive to work hard

-Lib: Taxes should be higher to pay for government programs aimed at helping the poor. The rich should be taxed more because they have recied more advantages from thisi country than the poor and should pay for them.

-Con: The UN subjegates American intrests to the interests of many of the dictatorial countries that have prominent spots.

-Lib: Its a good thing because its what the world wants. The US has no right to simply ignore what the rest of the world wants.

-Con: They attacked us first. By fighting over there, they're not attacking us here. Support the troops. We can't cut and run or we will appear weak and easier to attack

-Lib: Illegal war and we need to leave. Its hurting the economy and killing americans

-Con: Welfare removes some incentive to work. It forces people to rely on the government for their livelyhood. Itsboils down to people who work paying peole who don't. Those who can work and refuse should be expelled from the program

-Lib: The poor are at a disadvantage and some could never reach the middle class because of a lack of opportunity. The rich got that way by exploiting the poor. The rich have had opportunities that most never had and should pay for them.

In general, con are pro buisness and the individual at the cost of society as a whole. lib are pro people and society at the cost of the individual

  2. Do you really get confused? Or is this Passive-Aggresive?

  3. I'll try to answer this... I admit to a conservative bias, but I'll try to keep it to a minimum.

    Taxes:

    - Conservative: After a certain point, raising taxes becomes counterproductive.  There is progressively less incentive for corporations and the wealthy to invest, reducing economic expansion.  A lower percentage of a larger tax base is better than a higher percentage of a lower base.

    - Liberal: People with more money should be taxed more, since they can more easily afford it, and have a civic duty to help those of lesser means.

    United Nations:

    - Conservative: Opinions vary, generally somewhere between "useful as a debating society" and "quit the UN and kick em out of New York".

    - Liberal: I honestly don't know the range of beliefs on that subject, and don't want to risk making the mistake of counting an extreme view as common.

    Iraq:

    - Conservative: We had multiple legitimate reasons for going in.  Some of those reasons we learned later were factually incorrect.  And yes, reconstruction after we defeated the Iraqi forces could definitely have been handled better.  We're there now, though, and need to stay until Iraq is capable of handling itself... both for the Iraqis' sakes, and because we don't want to have to go back in another 15 or 20 years.

    - Liberal: We should never have gone there to begin with, or we only went in for oil.  We should pick up and leave now.  A vocal subset also calls for impeachment and/or war crimes trials for the current administration.

    Terror:

    - Conservative: Enough is enough.  It's not going to be quick and easy, but it needs to be done.

    - Liberal: The War on Terror is just fear mongering, and should be addressed less as a military matter and more similar to law enforcement.  [this is another subject I'm not sure I have the Liberal point of view correct on]

    Welfare:

    - Conservative: Make sure that the people who receive it actually need it.  In many cases, there are probably better ways of providing assistance than through the government.

    - Liberal: The government has a duty to take care of its citizens.

Hopefully, I was able to eliminate much, if not most, of my partisan bias in this response.

  4. From a liberal perspective there is no set standards. The goal regarding any issue is, policies set anyway MUST benefit and put PEOPLE before anything else. It should be the people and the well being of country that takes priority over anything else.

  5. Liberals think states should worry about their own and take care of their own.

Conservatives want big government and ultimate control over people and business.

Liberals believe countries should fend for themselves more, and our government should have less say in what they do or how they handle affairs.

Conservatives want to manipulate all affairs and make sure their hands are on all money throughout the world.

Liberals and conservatives want a war on terror, but liberals want it where the terrorist thrive, not where they come to get us away from a war we should not have started.

Liberals believe money should be shared, so no poor people need starve in a country so great.

Conservatives are ok with a little money being shared, but agree that business should have as much as possible and all others fend for themselves.

  6. In relation to American conservatives and liberals:

Conservatives hate taxes, liberals like them.

Liberals love the United Nations, conservatives abhor it.

Conservatives generally support the War in Iraq and the War on Terror, liberals are vehemently against it.

Liberals like welfare, conservatives tend to be against it.
