Question:

Conserving Energy?

I am using power strips for all my appliances, and when night comes around or whenever I go out of the room I turn the power strip off (but don't unplug it). I was wondering does that save energy? Because I heard on average 25% of power bills are things turned off but plugged in... So if the power strip is off it doesn't transfer power to the apliances that are plugged in...

I don't see the power bill (living at home with parents) so I can't tell if it works, does anyone know?

  1. This article indicates that it's a solution, but I've heard that this kind of power drain is only 5% of the total bill.  I guess it depends on the household :-)
