I have a Consew 226R industrial sewing machine and I sew boat canvas and vinyls, I'm very pleased with the way the stitches look and it gives me a professional look. The problem I have when sewing heavy fabrics is: when I reverse the stitches it will break the needle. When I figure a job I have to factor in needle breakage and that runs the cost up plus it's time consumming to keep changing needles. I have a portable Sailrite that I rarely have a problem with but I would prefer to use the Consew as it is, I favor the Sailrite because it is less hassel to sew on. I've changed threads, needle sizes, cleaned, oiled and done everything I know to correct the problem and it just hasn't helped. You suggestions are appreciated.
