  1. the Eo's for the following come from the CRC handbook of chemistry & physics:

    2NaClO2      --> 2ClO2   & 2e-  Eo =  - 0.954 volts

    Cl2(g)  & 2 e-   -->  2NaCl  ...   .Eo = + 1.358 volts

    your first answer: 0.404 volts

    ===============================

    dGo =  -nFEo

    dGo = - (2 moles e-) (96.5kJ/ mol ev) (0.404 volts)

    dGo = -77.97 kJ

    our answer is: - 78.0 kJ
