Question:

Considering a Candyland themed wedding...help?

Okay so we were joking about this then thought it would actually be really cool. My bouquet would be a few large lollipops and the brides maids would each have one. Ring Pop wedding ring exchange (with real bands exchanged first).

That's where we run out of ideas. If we are going to do this we want to go all out on it, but we can't think of any other details.

Any suggestions?

  1. Cute idea.

but i'm not really sure of any other details. what colors are you going to be using?

except for maybe the centerpieces could have Lollipops and candy canes in them as well.

  2. they've already put out christmas decorations @ hobby lobby and i've seen candy christmas ornaments...though real candy may be cheaper

    when is your wedding?

if it's near christmas then decorate little christmas trees with candy, if it's not then you could find fake topiary and decorate those

i've also see where people got styrofoam balls and glued peppermints or gumdrops to them

  3. It's very cute idea (except the ring pop thing is a bit cheesy/taking it a little too far, IMO).

You of course will have to do a candy buffet!

And maybe have a cotton candy machine at your reception?  That would be fun for guests to watch someone actually twirl it on to sticks right there!

I saw a wedding show once where they did a candy theme wedding.  They had lots of helium balloons with strings in their wedding colours (I think that yellow, orange and aqua would be good candy colours) hanging from the ceiling, like covering the whole ceiling (think of that Valentines theme in the s*x and the City movie).  It was pretty cool.

If I remember the name of the show I will also add it to my answer.

  4. Well, the Bridesmaids obviously have to wear those big pink dresses like the one chick in the game. There have been many versions of Candyland - the lady with the blue and white dress is also nice! You can have a chocolate fountain, and your cake would have different candies and gumdrops around it. Or even gingerbread men. Peppermint favors or decorations?

Maybe to walk down the aisle you could get colored carpet swatches to imitate the game board? That could be garish, but it might totally work! Otherwise, perhaps you could decorate some of the floor (like under the cake table or head table if you have one) that way. They also have dance floors that light up different colors, and that would work.

Here are some ideas for the wedding or especially the Bridal Shower:

I know it says it's for little kids' birthdays, but I honestly think some of the ideas could be adapted and worked out well.

    Congratulations!

    EDIT:  Oh.

(See their large Whirley Pops, and lots of other stuff.)

(the cake, though it is pastel, and I'm not sure if you wanted something brighter)

A different kind of "cake" - could also be used for centerpieces!

I bet you could make this yourself - you can get those candies that are wrapped in silver or gold from http://www.orientaltrading.com/ under their wedding section.

This shows how they could decorate the cake a little by drawing on lollipops and such as icing. Obviously, it wouldn't look like this, but the idea can be taken and run with!

    That place might be helpful.

This was a "candy cake" for someone. You could make something like that as well, for the dessert table or centerpiece.

If you are going the cupcake route, you can put little hearts or gum drops or whatever on them.

And around Valentine's Day next year, don't forget to stock up on the heart-shaped candies! The day after Valentine's EVERYTHING is like half-off!

If you are giving gift or favor bags, I would SO include a toothbrush!

    :)

  5. i like your overall idea but think you may be taking it a tad far.

keep in mind your wedding day only happens once.... do you want it to be remembered as unique or tacky?  a fine line differentiates the two.

candy as favours, centre pieces, to carry intead of flowers - cool

exchanging ring pops - not so cool

  6. off the top of  my head.....

maybe use the actually candyland games for centerpeices in some way? um.....

have a cotton candy machine.....use fake cotton candy were most would use tulle and ribbon... candy canes..gum drops places on tables .

another center p: a glass bowl with gum drops/hard bright candy and cotton candy on sticks sticking out like flowers. idk....
