Considering a black wedding dress...?

Question

I am thinking of wearing a black wedding dress. I always wear black (I am not gothic or anything... I just have a tendency of wearing black a lot) and I would love to have my wedding be black and a cranberry red (and me wearing a black wedding dress). Has anybody ever come across a nice, tastefully made black wedding gown? I love this one by Badgley Mischka but I am also looking for more options. Thank you.

I would say its a dont. I think it will be too much of a shock to your quests. A wedding is a happy event and for this occasion the dress says sad, depressed, goth and morbid!! it is a dress is nice...if you going to prom!! This is your wedding, girl!  I love your colors. I say if you dont want to wear the tradional all white gown opt for an off white or ivroy dress that has black and red beading, lace or ribbon. that would be gorgous!!

I believe Spanish tradition dictates a black wedding gown so it's not THAT unheard of. The dress is lovely and if it suits you, go with it!

If you love it, go for it. You should love your wedding dress, thats how you know its perfect. The idea of a wedding dress being white is just tradition. I don't think the color makes a difference, just as long as your happy with it.

I think that if you find a very classy black wedding dress (like the one you have) then it will look very beautiful.  At first I was thinking, oh my gosh please don't wear black.  But I think it could look very beautiful and different.  

Bottom line, it's your wedding do what YOU want!

I think it's a great idea and that is a stunning dress!!!

The only thing I would say to you is, 40 years down the road when you're looking at your wedding pictures are you going to be happy that you didn't wear the standard white dress or will you be happy that you went against convention??

dont worry about it being black my Aunt had a wedding where she had everyone wear crazy hats and she was in a lime green and orange striped gown

You are better off buying a very formal black bridesmaid gown. Not to mention that you would have a ton to choose from that way. That dress looks more like an evening gown for a beauty pageant or something for the mother of the bride than for the bride. Stick with white. You said you always wear black. Your wedding day is about a single day in your life. You are a bride that day and should do something you don't usually do.

Love the dress, not to sure about the red, it might end up looking very tacky, or like something out of Moulin Rouge, infact anything black and lacy with any colour would look like something out of an Ann Summers book. Dont know how you could pull it off, but all i can say is if you are going to do it ,keep it simple and tasteful, and dont put any feathers with it.

There's nothing wrong with a black wedding dress. If you're worried about it, just make sure it has some accents in another colour. You only get married once, and, really, you should be able to wear whatever you like. I'm probably getting a brown wedding dress. Unless you have really dark skin, white isn't really a good colour for most people anyway, in my opinion.

Look up Sarah Jessica Parker's wedding dress, I LOVE it, and want one very similar to hers. I like the idea of having a black wedding dress.

That sounds beautiful, though I don't think I'd have the guts to do it.

I believe that white was worn traditionally to show that the bride was an 'untainted' virgin giving herself fully to her partner.  It's funny how it's remained the typical traditional color... though I plan to be wearing white :)

According to me the colour that was good to blend in a black manner was red or white, but not impossible if you want to blend with the anything colour, because according to me the black was the neutral colour that will be visible pretty to blend heard the anything colour especially the colour of the clear colour, like orange, yellow, green or pink.hopefully this article can helping you...
