Question:

Considering adoption?

My husband and I are expecting our third child. We've been talking lately, and have decided that when this child is born, we would like to adopt a fourth, about a year after this baby is born. Has anyone gone through this before? What's it like? How long does it take, and what kind of things will be in the process?

  1. Directed at Sk8ermom:  So the adoptees aren't knowledgeable?  What... because we have bad things to say about it?  Ugh. Typical.

Now, to the poster... I can edit this answer, but I need to ask you something.  Are you and your husband talking about adopting a fourth INFANT or adopting a child from foster care who needs a good home?  This greatly changes how long it will take and what you'll have to do as far as 'the system.'

  2. AWE! really annabell? cool! that'll b a handful! er, my dad apparently adopted a little girl a few weeks ago, with his new 'wife' she's like 22(and a half!) and he's almost 50! so yeah they just adopted they have been trying for a year to adopt and they just got her, so i would start looking into it right after Avery is born. i love ya! hope y'all are doing good!

  3. Not a good forum for adoption. I just logged on after a few weeks away and I see folks are up to their old tricks. I suggest the yahoo group "2adopt" for tons of information and a better and knowledgable croud.

My Email is available on here. There are many types of adoption and so much information that I cannot type it all here. Private, international or state? Let me know.

Private adoption cost can range from $4,000-$12,000 for private and $10,000 to $40,000 for an agency depending on what type of situations you are open to. (race, health, prenatel exposure)

The wait time is 3-18 months average again depending on what you are open to.

My daughter was 5.5 months old. She is Indian and blind/CP/failure to thrive. Total costs were $8,000 through an agency.
