  1. In no particular order, here are some ways that the directives of the Homeland Security department are already affecting businesses:

    - foreign workers.  New regulations make it harder for companies to hire workers who are not citizens (delay in getting visa, etc.)

    - shipping delays/costs.  New regulations make it more expensive to ship stuff to the US given increased searches, etc.

    - air travel.  increased security at airports make it harder for businesses to find employees willing to travel because of the increased hassle

    - export restrictions.  New regulations make it harder to export computer equipment that could be misused by hostile countries in weapons, etc.

    - international banking.  New regulations make it more difficult to open foreign bank accounts since ...
